William, Catherine and Children Name Baby Kangaroo at Australia Zoo
Robert Irwin said the Welsh word fits the joey, which spends much of its time cuddling in its mother’s pouch.
Prince William, Princess Kate, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis named a new eastern grey joey at Australia Zoo, selecting the Welsh word Cwtch, meaning cuddle.
Conservationist Robert Irwin, son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, invited the family to help name the joey as part of efforts to spotlight global wildlife conservation.
" is the absolute perfect name for a joey kangaroo, 'cause at this age, they love a cuddle and they spend most of their time inside that pouch with their mum," Irwin said.
Irwin and Prince William collaborate on the Earthshot Prize, focusing on protecting and restoring nature through projects aligned with their shared environmental commitment.
Fans can visit Baby Cwtch at Australia Zoo in Beerwah, Queensland, where eastern grey kangaroos play a crucial role in maintaining the Australian bush ecosystem.
