Gen Z discussing dharm is heartening, says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Ujjain
Bhagwat said 1,700 Gen Z participants were discussing dharm, and warned that unrighteousness is driving deforestation and threatens human existence.
- On Friday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed around 1,700 Gen Z participants at the Yuva Dharma Sansad in Ujjain, expressing satisfaction seeing youth discuss "dharma" at a time when some consider it an "old people's affair."
- The RSS initiated this outreach following massive student protests over NEET exam paper leaks at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, which brought youth discontent to the fore and led to the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
- Distinguishing between "dharma" and religion, Bhagwat asserted that the former is above the latter, while claiming the Western concept of secularism emerged from historical conflicts and does not fit the Indian context.
- Bhagwat urged participants to adopt a "dharmic" approach to business emphasizing social contribution, while warning that environmental degradation amounted to "adharma" and asserting humans have a duty to protect nature.
- Around 300 scholars, teachers, researchers and religious leaders are participating in this three-day event, the sixth edition of the Yuva Dharma Sansad, with organizers confirming the next gathering will be held in Dwarka next year.
