- Welsh actress Melanie Walters has confirmed she is joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing for the 2026 series, best known for playing Gwen West in the BBC sitcom Gavin and Stacey.
- "Melanie is loved across the country for her role as Gwen," a show insider said. The 90-minute finale she starred in attracted more than 19 million viewers on Christmas Day last year.
- Walters joins confirmed contestants including singer Delta Goodrem, Love Island's Dani Dyer, EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, celebrity hairdresser Chris Appleton, and Paralympic cyclist Dame Sarah Storey.
- New Strictly host Emma Willis will continue presenting The Voice on ITV this autumn, though a source noted the schedule is "a bit awkward as Strictly is her shiny new gig."
- Outside of acting, the Swansea native works as a pilates instructor and personal trainer, having appeared in television dramas including Casualty, Holby City, Death Valley, and Beyond Paradise.
