BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A crash Saturday afternoon took the life of a Gardendale man, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, after the vehicle he was operating struck a utility pole in Birmingham. 48-year-old Alfred Jermaine Harkley was driving on Interstate 65 North near the Interstate 22 West exit when the accident occurred around 3:02 p.m. Saturday, June 20.
