Jim Furyk Says It Will Be 'Great' if Patrick Reed Is Part of His Ryder Cup Team Again
- On Tuesday, U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk and European captain Luke Donald met at Adare Manor in Limerick to mark one year until the 2027 competition, with Furyk acknowledging his team faces "underdog" status while aiming to end a 34-year winless streak on European soil.
- Addressing the team's "issues" in alternate shot, Furyk promised changes, noting the U.S. has struggled significantly in foursomes across the last two Ryder Cups and two Presidents Cups, losing 26-8 overall.
- To improve performance, likely players will attend a scouting trip at Adare Manor next July, while Furyk has revamped the qualification system to ensure no points are earned until the 2027 season.
- Patrick Reed, who leads the European tour points list, could return to the U.S. team, with Furyk stating it would be "great" if Reed qualified among the 12 best Americans.
- European captain Luke Donald expressed "zero complacency" regarding U.S. strength, noting they rank higher in world standings while aiming to become the first captain in history to lead three consecutive Ryder Cup victories.
