Fulham Seal Double Deadline Day Deal as New Real Madrid Talent Arrives
Fulham added two young midfielders as manager Alvaro Arbeloa reshapes the squad after early Premier League defeats.
Fulham agreed to sign midfielders Manuel Angel from Real Madrid and Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt as part of a significant midfield overhaul for the Cottagers. Both players hope to debut this weekend against Crystal Palace.
Manager Alvaro Arbeloa reunited with 22-year-old Angel, who played under him at Real Madrid Castilla. The Spaniard signed a three-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
Swedish international Larsson joins from the Bundesliga club for an expected €25m, replacing Sasa Lukic who joined Ipswich Town earlier this summer. He brings 87 German top-flight appearances.
Following two early Premier League defeats, Arbeloa's busy transfer window has added Shea Charles, Gonzalo Garcia, Cesar Palacios, and Jonah Kusi-Asare, demonstrating intent to strengthen the squad.
Training under Arbeloa is a "real privilege," Angel said, citing the coach's ability to maximize player potential. The midfielder emphasized his commitment to providing higher intensity at Craven Cottage.
After the end of the deadline day, Eintracht Frankfurt has to get along without further reinforcements and without Hugo Larsson. The Swedes are moving to the island. Jean-Matteo Bahoya also changes to the Premier League.
