French Montana Helping Cab Driver Whose Taxi Was Trashed in Knicks Celebration
The New York Knicks captured their first championship in 53 years on Saturday, but citywide celebrations resulted in the vandalizing of taxi driver Noureddine Bitat's vehicle, leaving him unable to work.
A viral video clip of the incident received more than 6 million views, prompting French Montana, 41, to write: 'Somebody find him for me so we can help him get back on his feet.'
Montana partnered with Dereniowski and the New York Taxi Workers Alliance to organize a GoFundMe campaign aimed at restoring Noureddine's livelihood after he was reportedly assaulted and dragged from his vehicle.
As of Jun 16, donations surpassed the $25,000 goal, reaching more than $36,000 to help the driver recover from damage caused during the championship celebrations.
Festivities will continue Jun 18 when the Knicks ride down the Canyon of Heroes at the team's official championship parade in NYC to celebrate the title.
