The board chose Channer after a national search, citing his 20 years at A Better Way and experience growing services and funding.
On Monday, Fred Finch Youth & Family Services announced David Channer as its next chief executive officer, effective July 20, 2026. Channer succeeds retired leader Tom Alexander.
An LCSW with extensive clinical experience, Channer previously led A Better Way, a Berkeley-nonprofit, where he grew the agency into a $15 million organization during his 20-year tenure.
