This summer, France registered an excess mortality of around 7,000 during the heat waves. Earlier it was announced that the country was experiencing its hottest summer since measurements began in 1900, with an average temperature of 24 degrees.
The National Health Agency had estimated the number of additional deaths between 17 June and 2 July at 5764.
