Former Police Sergeant Who Shot Two Men in 2023 Is Sentenced to Probation
Andrew Plemmons received a fully suspended sentence and two years of probation after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment in the 2023 park shooting.
- On Monday, former Rutland City Patrol Sergeant Andrew Plemmons was sentenced to a suspended zero-to-one-year prison term and two years of probation for reckless endangerment.
- The sentencing stems from a July 3, 2023, incident at Giorgetti Park where Plemmons fired into a vehicle carrying brothers Randy and Andy Perez-Coiscou after they attempted to drive away.
- Facing up to 16 years in prison on original charges, Plemmons pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count and resigned from the Rutland City Police Department on Saturday.
- Under the Vermont Superior Court sentence, Plemmons must complete 100 hours of community service and maintain no contact with the victims; Attorney General Charity Clark previously determined his use of force was not justified.
- Supporter Kelley Cross called the charges "absurd," while resident Riley Hunter said the situation is "unfortunate." The two victims, Randy and Andy Perez-Coiscou, remain scheduled to appear in court on November 18th on their own criminal charges.
