State prosecutors in Armenia on Tuesday detained Robert Kocharyan, a former president, and formally accused him of a slew of corruption-related offences during his time in office.
The investigation investigates money transfers to his son's name for hundreds of billions of dramas and the acquisition of more than 30 real estate properties.

Armenian authorities have detained former President Robert Kocharyan and charged him with corruption crimes committed while in power. The 71-year-old Kocharyan, a political opponent of Prime Minister Nikola Pashinyan, was hospitalized for high blood pressure shortly after the charges were filed, AFP reported.
Former Armenian President and opposition leader Robert Kocharyan has been detained on charges of corruption allegedly committed during his term in office. Prosecutors accuse Kocharyan, who served as president from 1998 to 2008, of money laundering, accepting bribes, and abuse of power.
