- The London-based company operates a blockchain-based wholesale payment system allowing financial institutions to settle obligations using funds backed by central bank money, with its sterling system regulated by the Bank of England since 2023.
- Ron Berndsen, formerly of the Nederlandsche Bank, also joined the supervisory board as Fnality seeks regulatory approvals to extend its blockchain infrastructure beyond sterling into dollar and euro-denominated payment networks.
- Backed by major institutions including Goldman Sachs, UBS, and Citigroup, Fnality raised $136 million in Series C funding in September 2025, bringing total capital since 2019 to more than $280 million.
- Competition is intensifying as Swift tests tokenized deposit payments for cross-border settlement, while JPMorgan and others target 2027 for a shared network enabling 24-hour corporate transfers across blockchain infrastructure.
