China reports 26.8% rise in visa-free foreign entries in first eight months
China recorded 23.72 million visa-free foreign entries in the first eight months of 2026, up 26.8% year on year and accounting for 77.6% of all foreign arrivals, according to data released on Thursday at the Immigration Management Cooperation Sub-forum of the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang, east China's Jiangsu Province.
Foreign citizens' travel to China continued to grow in the first eight months of this year, thanks to the extension of visa-free entry policy and other measures to facilitate the entry of international travellers into the country.
NANJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Travel by foreign nationals to China continued to increase in the first eight months of the year as China expanded its visa-free entry and other measures aimed at facilitating the entry of international travelers into the country.
China saw strong growth in its foreign trade from January to August 2026, with imports growing faster than exports, recording a total annual increase of 17.6% to 34.78 trillion yuan.
