Ford Is Reportedly Developing a New $25,000 SUV as the Brand’s Entry-Level Model in 2029
Ford says the Fathom will offer BlueCruise, Apple Maps and bidirectional charging as it targets the affordable electric vehicle market.
Ford's new Fathom electric pickup launches in the U.S. early next year at $28,350, excluding a $1,595 delivery fee, with Canadian pre-orders opening in early 2027 at CA$38,690.
Ford designed the Fathom to compete in "the heart of the affordable EV market," equipping it with bidirectional charging, Apple Maps integration, and a native NACS port.
At a recent dealer event in Las Vegas, Ford executives teased an unnamed crossover slated for 2029, which dealers described as "boxy and wide," reminiscent of the first-generation Ford Escape.
Expected to start at around $25,000, the crossover will offer both hybrid and nonhybrid powertrains, with assembly scheduled for 2029 at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant in Mexico.
These models join a four-door Mustang Ford teased with a sub $40,000 price tag, positioning the company to build an extensive affordable lineup across multiple segments by decade's end.
