There is still no agreement in the European Union on the implementation of the customs agreement with the USA.
The US President threatens with new tariffs and refers to the lack of implementation of a deal with the EU. There, no agreement has been reached.
While US President Donald Trump is threatening new tariffs, the EU is arguing about the implementation of the already agreed tariff deal. Several countries warn against further annoying Trump.
Whether and how the tariff deal that Ursula von der Leyen concluded with Trump in August 2025 will be implemented in the EU remains unclear. So far, the European Parliament and the Council of the 27 EU member states have been unable to reach an agreement. The automotive industry is pressing for a swift resolution.
