Fontaines D.C. Release New Single "Tongue"
The track extends the band’s processed sound and follows August’s lead single, with a video filmed by the group in New York City.
On Wednesday, September 30, Fontaines D.C. released "Tongue," the second single from their upcoming fifth studio album Dopamine Chamber, arriving October 16 via XL Recordings.
Produced by James Ford, the record follows 2024's Romance; guitarist Conor Curley said the track "continued where Romance left off, leaving the live-band elements until they were really needed."
Bassist Conor Deegan manipulated tape speeds to give the bass "the warped character of a hip-hop sample," while guitarist Carlos O'Connell processed Grian Chatten's vocals through a sampler.
Marking their first-ever guest appearance, the album features a duet with Rosalía; additionally, a John Angus Stewart-directed music video was filmed in New York City.
Expanding their sound with industrial experimentation drawing comparisons to The Cure, Fontaines D.C. gears up for touring, though no U.S. dates are currently scheduled.
