On May 15, 1927, a group of ladies and military veterans from around the state came to Cowell’s Big Trees resort in Felton for a tree dedication. In addition to flags and flowers, the big tree was adorned with a brass plaque dedicating it to Californians who served in the World War 1917-1918.
