- On Friday, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier held a press conference in Orlando accusing Ninth Judicial Circuit State Attorney Monique Worrell of declining to prosecute two child predator cases and demanded charges in a splash-pad incident last month in Apopka.
- The background shows that the splash-pad incident occurred on August 16 at Kit Land Nelson Park, Apopka, and investigators on June 4 found thousands of child pornography files in the Thomas Dolgos case.
- According to the files and interviews, Uthmeier says video evidence and witness testimony exist, but the prosecutor assigned to the splash-pad case explained the victim's father left a 45-minute conversation understanding statutory limits prevented charges.
- As a result, the Office of Statewide Prosecution is pursuing original child-pornography counts plus 48 additional counts from the August 28 arrest, while Thomas Dolgos was apprehended at the Canadian border, extradited, and now faces dozens of CSAM charges.
- Worrell pushed back, saying Uthmeier's criticism is politically motivated after her August 2023 removal by Governor Ron DeSantis and reelection, while Uthmeier said, `She gave this man a free walk in the park, and now other kids are in jeopardy.
