Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills Two in Russia’s Chuvashia Region
Authorities said two people were killed and more than 30 were injured after the strike damaged over 20 apartment buildings.
On Tuesday, a Ukrainian F-5 Flamingo missile and drone strike hit a military production site in Chuvashia, killing two people and wounding 32 others in the regional capital of Cheboskary.
Regional head Oleg Nikolaev declared a state of emergency following the strike, which damaged more than 20 apartment buildings; Zelensky claimed the facility supplied navigation components for missiles and military vehicles.
Prime Minister Oleg Artamonov noted "several victims" remained under medical supervision while authorities halted public transit and moved schools to online classes as the threat persisted Tuesday.
Ukraine announced a unilateral cease-fire for May 5 to 6 and said it would act reciprocally "from that moment," though Russian strikes elsewhere killed at least five people.
The strike occurred about 600 miles from the border as Moscow prepares for Victory Day festivities on May 9, with Russia planning to scale back events due to security concerns.
Ukrainian drones and missiles have reached the Kirishi refinery in the Leningrad region, and a military institute in Cheboksary, where components for high-precision weapons are produced.
