The first fin whales, which have been caught off the coast of Iceland for three years, are expected to land in Hvalfjörður tonight. The chairman of the Akranes Workers' Union says the start of the whaling season is good news, with ordinary workers able to earn up to two million krónur a month. He also says that it would be bad for Icelanders if "extremist views" began to influence decision-making.
