"First Case Since 1998" - 31yo Kedah Man Dies From Rabies After Being Bitten By Stray Dog
Health officials said the 31-year-old man did not receive rabies post-exposure prophylaxis after a stray dog bite and later tested positive.

- Health Department data shows 502 animal bite or scratch cases in Kedah as of August 2026, with 65.3 per cent involving dogs. Officials advise washing wounds with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes.
- Following the confirmation, Kedah JKN, the Kubang Pasu District Health Office, and the Kedah Veterinary Services Department implemented control measures, including active case detection and enhanced surveillance of animal-bite cases.
