Mozilla today said it is adding an ad blocker to Firefox for iOS, allowing users to block many third-party ads and ad-related trackers. The ad blocker uses the EasyList filter list and Apple's WebKit Content Blocker technology, which is the same content-blocker API Safari ad blockers use. Mozilla incorporated the built-in Firefox ad blocking on iOS, a feature that uses the content blocking mechanism available on Apple’s system and EasyList filter to stop most third-party advertising and crawlers before they load. The tool comes disabled by default and will not prevent all ads, especially those served directly by sites, sponsored results and certain content promoted by Firefox.
