Firefighter pulls woman from burning SUV, family calls him a hero
Body-camera footage shows Donald Faulkner pulling 52-year-old Latashia Collins from the SUV as she suffered fractures, burns and internal bleeding.
On the city's west side, Detroit firefighter Donald Faulkner rescued 52-year-old Latashia Collins from a burning SUV after a crash involving a truck.
Trapped with the door locked, Collins screamed for help, driving Faulkner to find the best extraction route with minimal injuries possible.
Collins suffered multiple fractures and third-degree burns requiring intensive care at the DMC Detroit Receiving Burn Center, where Dr. David Springstead called her recovery 'a miracle.'
Faulkner remains humble, stating, 'I'm just doing my job, man,' while Collins's daughter Tanisha Morgan praised the firefighters, saying they deserve more recognition.
Fire Commissioner Chuck Sims and Faulkner recently visited Collins in the hospital; her family credits both the medical team and Faulkner for saving her life.
