Delhi Police Files FIR in Death of IIT Delhi Scholar Found Injured at His Residence in Munirka
Police filed an abetment of suicide case after the scholar died following 45 days of treatment, and investigators said no suspicion has been raised so far.
On Saturday, the Delhi Police registered an FIR following the death of an IIT Delhi PhD scholar at AIIMS, who passed away after around 45 days of treatment following his discovery unconscious on August 18 in Munirka Village.
The FIR, filed under section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment of suicide, was lodged at the Kishangarh police station following Supreme Court directions and a complaint from the IIT Delhi Security Officer.
Evidence shows the door was locked from inside, and CCTV analysis confirmed the student was alone, with no allegations of foul play raised by family or witnesses during proceedings.
Separately, IIT Delhi formed a probe panel to investigate the August 22 death of a 31-year-old MSc student, with the committee headed by former Delhi HC Judge Justice Mukta Gupta and including Pratap Sharan.
The investigative committee has been requested to submit its report within two weeks, while the Delhi Police confirmed that further investigation and proceedings regarding the PhD scholar's case remain underway.
