Filmmakers fundraise to finish late friend’s West Coast story of resilience
BCMOS is raising money to finish a feature documentary on Brad Jacobsen, with fundraising aimed at production, restoration, post-production and distribution.
- The British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society launched fundraising efforts for the Standing Spirit Project, a feature documentary produced in Creative Partnership with 8 Fold Films about Brad Jacobsen's remarkable life.
- Jacobsen's life changed in 1994 when an accident left him quadriplegic, yet he refused to accept that adventure was no longer possible and traversed the rugged West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island.
- Filmmakers Chelsea McEvoy and Jordan Kerton are editing archival footage Jacobsen entrusted to them over nearly two decades. "This film is not simply about what Brad accomplished 20 years ago," McEvoy said.
- Friends are coming together to complete the film Jacobsen always wanted, capturing his journey and the community resilience that made his adventures possible. "This is our opportunity to ensure Brad's story continues to inspire future generations," McEvoy said.
- Donations will fund production, post-production, archival restoration, and final distribution of the Standing Spirit Project documentary. Supporters can learn more and contribute at 8foldfilms.com/standing-spirit-project.
