Kaori Sakamoto, the silver medalist in women's figure skating at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics and the retirement champion of the World Championships in March, threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Hanshin-Giants game on the 2nd. The popular figure skater from Kobe was greeted with thunderous applause as she took to the mound and threw a powerful pitch. "The World Championships and the Olympics..."
Kaori Sakamoto (26), who won a silver medal in women's figure skating at the Milan Olympics and won her fourth World Championship title before retiring, appeared at the ceremonial first pitch. Sakamoto, a native of Kobe City, wore her jersey number "39" as a token of her gratitude for everything she has done so far.
