Field of Screams back in Spallumcheen with 4 new, terrifying corn mazes

Field of Screams kicked off its 13th year at Spallumcheen's O'Keefe Ranch on Friday, Sept. 25, introducing four new corn mazes designed by Matt Brown and Glen Taylor to be certified shock-inducing attractions.
Organizers dubbed this the "unlucky 13" year, creating interconnected storylines across attractions. Maze 1, Pioneer Village, evokes a settler vibe where folks were "forgotten about," while Maze 2, Distortion, guides guests through an asylum patient's cerebral experience.
Maze 3 features an abandoned chocolate factory inspired by Roald Dahl's story, while Maze 4 takes guests through a haunted vintage hotel. Brown integrated custom animatronics and pneumatic systems into this year's experience.
Films based on Dahl's novel provide inspiration, with Brown noting both Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp play Willy Wonka in "spectacularly creepy" fashion. The attractions aim to play on people's psychology.
