The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan discussed activating the Mecca Mutual Defense Treaty at a meeting in New York on Friday (September 25, 2026). The move comes amid Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Iran's efforts to distance itself from its allies' advances in Yemen.
Saudi Arabia and its allies Pakistan and Turkey continue to work hard to shape their new defence alliance in the face of tensions on the Arabian Peninsula. To this end, the leaders of the three states will meet for an urgent meeting, as the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. The Foreign Ministers met on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.
