Fetterman announces $1.44M for Williamsport water tank replacement project
The grant will replace a 100-plus-year-old tank and improve service reliability for more than 51,000 customers, officials said.
Senator John Fetterman announced $1,440,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency to the Williamsport Municipal Water Authority for a water tank replacement project.
Secured through the FY24 Congressionally Directed Spending process, Fetterman championed the funding to replace a water storage tank over 100 years old, ensuring system longevity.
This investment bolsters water service reliability for over 51,000 customers, a critical upgrade Michael D. Miller, Executive Director of The Authority, called essential for a dependable and resilient system.
Senator Fetterman stated the investment will "improve water service reliability for generations to come and puts ratepayers first," reflecting his priority of securing federal investments for Pennsylvania families.
The Williamsport Municipal Water Authority thanked the EPA for assistance throughout the grant process, emphasizing that maintaining critical water infrastructure is essential for the community's long-term future.
