5G Network Poor, Villagers Tie Telecom Techie to Mobile Tower in UP's Fatehpur
On Thursday, police in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, rescued telecom technician Aditya Bhan Singh after villagers tied him to a mobile tower in Hardauli village. Authorities arrested six residents on Friday following the incident.
Villagers detained the technician to demand resolution for persistent 5G network outages. Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik stated residents claimed the area had faced poor connectivity for nearly two years despite a private tower being installed.
Police registered an FIR and arrested Rahul Patel , Suraj Yadav , Alok Patel , Yogendra Patel , Alok Yadav , and Sachin Patel . The six were produced before a magistrate and released on bail.
A viral video showed villagers surrounding Singh, with one resident declaring he would not be released until senior company officials arrived. The incident highlights rural frustrations over unreliable internet access and 5G service quality.
The investigation into the incident remains underway following the release of the six suspects. Authorities continue monitoring the situation in the Bindki area as residents await network infrastructure improvements.
