- On Monday the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it found no surveillance or other video of a U.S. Border Patrol agent firing during a stop in Portland, Oregon last week that wounded two people.
- Agents told investigators Thursday that one colleague opened fire after the driver reversed and hit the rented unoccupied car, and the FBI has interviewed four of the six agents who feared for safety.
- After the shooting, the driver Luis David Nino-Moncada received treatment for gunshot wounds and was placed in FBI custody, while passenger Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras was hospitalized and held Monday in Tacoma.
- An affidavit by FBI Special Agent Daniel Jeffreys supports aggravated assault and property damage charges against Luis David Nino-Moncada, while a federal judge in Portland ordered his detention Monday and set a preliminary hearing for Wednesday.
- DHS said the pair entered the U.S. illegally and were linked to Tren de Aragua, while Portland Police Chief Bob Day confirmed a gang nexus last week amid protests after the Minneapolis federal shooting one day earlier.
