Man Charged with Murder After Baby Boy Dies in Hospital
Police charged a 28-year-old father with murder and child domestic violence after a three-month-old boy died from significant internal injuries.
A 28-year-old father was charged with murder after his three-month-old son died from internal injuries at Queensland Children Hospital, police said. He also faces a domestic violence charge against a child.
Officers began investigating on October 1 after the baby arrived at an Ipswich Hospital with "significant internal injuries," police said. The child was later transferred to Queensland Children where he died on Tuesday afternoon.
Detectives from the Ipswich Child Protection Investigation Unit, assisted by the Child Trauma Unit, arrested the man overnight at an Ipswich address. "Overnight, detectives...arrested a 28-year-old man at an Ipswich address taking him into custody," police said.
The man is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday facing one count of murder and a domestic violence charge against a child. His court date follows the infant's death investigation.
