Father Bound Over in Deadly Shooting Case
A Port Huron man will stand trial after being accused of killing his teenage son and wounding two younger children. Judge John Monaghan ruled there was enough evidence against 44-year-old Jeffery Smerer to move the case to circuit court. Prosecutors say Smerer shot his 17-year-old son to death earlier this month and critically injured his 13-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
