Father arrested after toddler drowns in Osceola County hot tub, deputies say
Reynard Tyrone Hough faces charges after his 20-month-old daughter drowned while he fell asleep holding her in a hot tub at a short-term rental, officials said.
- On December 13, a 20-month-old toddler was found unresponsive in a hot tub just after 3:30 a.m. at a short-term rental on Nice Court in Kissimmee, Florida, and was pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 a.m. at AdventHealth Celebration.
- Hough told detectives that he brought the child into the hot tub and fell asleep while holding her, then awoke to find her unresponsive in his arms, according to the sheriff's office.
- Osceola County deputies and Fire Rescue responded after reports of an unresponsive child, and investigators said the child appeared to have drowned while a family from Washington, D.C., stayed at the short-term rental.
- He was arrested Saturday on neglect charges for Child Neglect Causing Great Bodily Harm, and on Sunday detectives added aggravated manslaughter of a child; Hough remains in custody at the Osceola County Jail.
- The sheriff's office says the death investigation is ongoing and officials reported the toddler was born April 2024.
