Fast & Furious Is Getting a TV Series at Peacock, With Vin Diesel as Executive Producer
The series will be written by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman and joins three other Fast & Furious TV projects in development, Diesel said.
- Peacock officially greenlit a Fast & Furious television series on Thursday, expanding the multibillion-dollar franchise beyond its theatrical roots. The streamer announced the project following widespread fan interest in legacy character stories.
- During NBCUniversal's Upfronts in May, star and producer Vin Diesel revealed the project, saying the move fulfills a decade-long desire to expand legacy character stories into television. The expansion coincides with the franchise's 25th anniversary.
- Universal Television tapped writers Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman to serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. The creative team previously worked on 'Sons of Anarchy', 'Shades of Blue', and '9-1-1: Lone Star'.
- Scheduled for a 2028 premiere, the series aligns with the release of the franchise's final film, Fast Forever, on March 17, 2028. Peacock is currently developing this single title confirmed by the streamer.
- With the franchise earning more than $7 billion at the worldwide box office, this project expands its portfolio beyond film. Previously, Fast & Furious Spy Racers aired on Netflix; this marks Peacock's first scripted series in the universe.
