Asos customers receive ‘hack’ notification threatening leak
Hundreds of users reported app access issues after a push alert said ASOS had been fully compromised and threatened to leak data unless contacted.
Asos app users received a push notification on Tuesday morning claiming the platform's systems were compromised, with the message stating "ASOS HACKED" and alleging the company's Snowflake instance was fully breached.
Sent shortly before 10 a.m., the message threatened the Asos DPO and IT departments, demanding they "Engage with us, or we will leak it" via a Telegram chat link included in the notification.
More than 400 customers flagged issues on Downdetector by 10:30 a.m., while some users questioned on social media whether the alert was a marketing strategy rather than a genuine security breach.
Asos has not commented on the alert, though British law requires the company to report any data breaches classified as "high risk" to officials within three days.
The retailer, which reported revenues of £2.5 billion in 2025 and serves 17 million customers annually across more than 150 countries, now faces scrutiny over the scope and authenticity of the alleged breach.
