Reform receives second £36m donation in two days as crypto investor matches record
Christopher Harborne said his matching gift was inspired by competitive spirit, bringing Reform UK’s two-day haul to £72 million.
On Saturday, Thai-based businessman Christopher Harborne matched a record-breaking £36 million donation to Reform UK, which British billionaire Ben Delo announced on Friday.
Writing in the Telegraph, Harborne said his "competitive spirit" inspired him to equal the sum, describing the contribution as a "philanthropic gift to our country" intended to help Reform prepare for government.
The combined £72 million from these two donations exceeds the total amount received by all other UK political parties combined last year.
Reform deputy leader Richard Tice said the massive cash boost places the party on a "level playing field," potentially encouraging further contributions from other donors.
Separately, the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner is investigating a previous £5 million personal gift from Harborne to Reform leader Nigel Farage, with potential police interviews ahead.
