RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a decree on Thursday increasing benefits of his flagship welfare program by 15%, weeks before the first round of the presidential elections.
According to the Minister of Planning, Bruno Moretti, the average benefit will jump from 675 to 777 reals
Flat of benefit will reach R$ 691; president had not readjusted value in this mandate
Second government, increase is only realignment of inflation after years of freeze of benefits.
