Families across Surrey struggling with school costs are being given extra help with uniforms and other essentials.

More than 1,400 apply for school uniform help

MORE than 1,400 people in New Providence and Grand Bahama have sought government assistance to buy school uniforms ahead of the new academic year, with Social Services Minister Barbara Cartwright saying demand for the programme has increased.

Families across Surrey struggling with school costs are being given extra help with uniforms and other essentials.

The County Council is giving more than £100,000 to charity Stripey Stork to provide uniforms, shoes, PE kits and school bags. The scheme helped more than 7,500 children last year and aims to support around 8,500 over the next year. The money comes from a government fund helping families facing financial difficulties.
