On Thursday 17 September, at the Palais de l'Élysée, Fabien Galthie was decorated by Emmanuel Marcon of the Legion of Honour. Marie-José Pérec and Gérard Masson, former president of the French Federation of Swimming, also received from the Head of State the insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honour.
Several years after the decree, Fabien Galthie and Marie-José Pérec formally received their legion of honour on Thursday from Emmanuel Macron.
On Thursday 17 September, Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the navigator Charlie Dalin, who was killed by cancer last June. The President of the Republic also decorated six French sports actors: Marie-José Perec, Nathalie Péchalat, Fabien Galthie, Abdelatif Benazzi, Gérard Masson and Michel Denisot.
