Pierre-Edouard Bellemare Says He's Retiring From Hockey at Age 41
Bellemare ends a career that began in Sweden and included two Stanley Cup Final trips, an Olympic debut and 10 NHL seasons, he said.
On Thursday, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare announced his retirement via social media, ending a career that saw him reach the NHL at age 29 and make his Olympic debut weeks before turning 41.
Bellemare spent a decade in the NHL from 2014-24, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Seattle Kraken.
The forward made two trips to the Stanley Cup Final: in 2018 with the Golden Knights and 2021 with the Lightning, after almost retiring two years ago for family stability.
Bellemare returned to Europe to play in Switzerland for the past two seasons, noting, "You think, 'I'm going to be there for one year,' and I stay 10 years."
"This is a celebration not just for me," Bellemare said, citing his family and describing his journey from Paris as "absolutely amazing" throughout his professional career.
