Express look to keep rolling at home versus Clippers
Fresh off a hard fought overtime victory last night against Powell River, Coquitlam are back in action tonight against the high-flying Nanaimo Clippers. The Clippers haven’t lost a single game since dropping their home opener 2-1, now on a 4 game winning streak. Most recently they won back to back games against Coastal East opponents in Langley and Surrey, and look to continue that success against Coquitlam. Nanaimo’s success is largely buoyed by having one of the best goaltenders in the BCHL, with netminder Hugo Laring boasting an astonishing .940 save percentage and 2.01 goals against average. The offensive numbers for Nanaimo are much more pedestrian, with their scoring resting heavily on Charles Béland who sits tied for 8th in BCHL points. As for Coquitlam, they saw a major jump in offense last night when Nishaan Parmar finally showed up on the scoresheet, getting his first goal of the season and then adding 3 more. Another big addition for the Express was defender Tristan Payne, who in his first game was already trusted as the PP1 anchor, and registered an assist in his debut. It’ll be a big test for the Express special teams tonight, as the Clippers lead their division in both power play and penalty kill percentage. The only lineup change for Coquitlam from last night is Daniel Morozov coming out of the lineup, to be replaced by Christian Revel.
