Express Win an Overtime Thriller

Summary
Coquitlam came out on the winning side of a 9 goal affair against the Powell River Kings. No doubt the biggest storyline was Express forward Nishaan Parmar, who scored his first goal of the season before adding THREE more goals, including the overtime winner. The first period saw the Express boast a 2 goal lead into the intermission, after a strong power play featuring new defender Tristan Payne got to work early. The goals came in droves for the Express, who halfway through the second got a 4-1 lead off the stick of Tyler Chiovetti in his first game back from injury. However the Powell River Kings surmounted an energetic comeback, drawing to within one goal heading into the 3rd. Just 40 seconds into the final period of regulation, Tuukka Heiskanen notched one past Girard to equalize the game. Despite quality chances each way, that was the final goal of regulation, and Coquitlam entered their third overtime of the year.

Powell River started hot, getting a few shots in on Charles-Antoine Girard, but it was Nishaan Parmar who rocketed a one-timer from Tristan Payne to end it. Parmar began the night with 0 points, and ended it 5th in team point scoring. His heroic performance earned him first star honours, with Tristan Payne coming away with second star. Coquitlam end the night in 3rd place in the Coastal East division, and will look to advance further when they return to action tomorrow night against the Nanaimo Clippers.
