State Department Revokes More Than 250,000 Visas in Immigration Vetting Crackdown
The U.S. State Department revoked more than 250,000 visas after President Donald Trump took office, according to the department.
The revocations involved visa violations, crimes, threats of violence, fraud, immigration-system abuse, and national-security concerns.
The department revoked 2,300 visas linked to birth tourism and canceled 27 visas belonging to Latin American officials, former officials, and their family members over corruption accusations.
The Trump administration prepared to target up to 200,000 business and tourist visas held by people who later applied for asylum in the United States.
More than 250,000 visas have been revoked since the beginning of Donald Trump's administration for crimes, immigration violations, fraud and other reasons.
