A former Alabama law enforcement officer held his girlfriend and a baby hostage for more than an hour before shooting himself in the chest. Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson was able to negotiate the safe release of the hostages just moments before the shooting. The ex-deputy was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.
