Ewan McGregor, a Scottish actor who leapt to fame in the 1990s with hits such as Danny Boyle's Trainspotting, played young Obi-Wan Kenobi in George Lucas' Star Wars Trilogy from 1999 to 2005, but the films received mostly unfavorable reviews at the time. They were also made famous for their almost constant use of CGI technology and the introduction of the vilified space creature Jar Jar Binks.
