Evander's Goal, 3 Assists Lead Cincinnati Past the Earthquakes 4-2 After Long Weather Delay
Evander’s 82nd-minute strike sent Cincinnati ahead before three late goals finished a comeback after a weather delay.
On Saturday, FC Cincinnati defeated the San Jose Earthquakes 4-2 after a weather delay exceeding two hours, with Evander scoring the go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute and Ayoub Jabbari capping the scoring in stoppage time.
San Jose scored first through Daniel Munie and Timo Werner, but Cincinnati equalized twice—Bryan Ram tied it 1-all in the 33rd minute, and Tom Barlow leveled at 2-all in the 70th after entering as a substitute.
Evander reached 100 regular-season goal contributions in just 104 games, making him the fifth-fastest player to reach this milestone in MLS history.
Only four players reached 100 goal contributions faster than Evander: Lionel Messi , Sebastian Giovinco , Robbie Keane , and Carlos Vela ; Evander also joined Luciano Acosta, Hany Mukhtar, and Preki in recording three consecutive seasons with 10 goals and 10 assists.
Both teams face matchups on Aug. 15: the Earthquakes host a home game while Cincinnati travels to play at Orlando.
