The European Commission approved the State aid package to lift Poland's first nuclear power plant, a key infrastructure for Poland's energy transition valued at 192 billion zlotys (€45.4 billion).The decision authorizes the Polish Government to provide capital and financial backing essential to start the works this December and to move towards a more stable, secure and less coal-dependent energy system.

Yesterday, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Tusk announced the European Commission's approval for PLN 60.2 billion in state aid for Poland's first nuclear power plant. The EC's decision on this matter took nearly 12 months to prepare, but it was issued relatively quickly. However, the Tusk government's application for it was delayed by nearly a year, ending in late December 2024 instead of early 2024.
