On Tuesday, Esteury Ruiz hit a three-run double in the 11th inning, lifting the Miami Marlins over the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 in Phoenix. The go-ahead hit ended a defensive stalemate since the fourth inning.
Gabriel Moreno's 431-foot solo homer in the first gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead. Griffin Conine answered with a solo shot in the fourth, tying the game at 1-1.
Stranding 15 runners overall, the Diamondbacks failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities. In the 10th inning, Geraldo Perdomo was thrown out at home by Jared Serna on a grounder from Ryan Waldschmidt, ending a potential rally.
