Emma and Noah were the most popular baby names in Quebec in 2025
Retraite Québec said Noah led boys with 618 births and Emma led girls with 485, extending both names’ recent dominance.
On Thursday, Retraite Québec unveiled the 2025 baby name rankings, confirming Noah and Emma as the most popular names for newborns in Quebec.
Consistent with 2023 and 2024 trends, the rankings demonstrate long-term stability; Emma has topped the girls' list four times in the past five years.
Noah held the top spot for boys for the fifth consecutive year, with 618 babies given the name, while Leo and Liam completed the top three.
Emma topped the girls' list for the second consecutive year with 485 newborns given the name, as Charlotte and Olivia tied for second place.
Alice and Florence secured the next positions for girls; notably, 367 girls were named Sofia, with 189 families choosing the Sophias spelling variation.
Anyone with young children around them will not be surprised to learn that Emma and Noah were once again the most popular names among newborns in Quebec last year.
